GAO report identifies areas of duplication. Which ones should NOT be cut?

Agriculture 15 agencies with duplicate

Defense 31 programs

Economic development over 100 agencies duplication

Energy, reducting the duplication could reduce the waste up to $5.7billion yearly

General Government- saving billions yearly

Health- if DOD and VA would Jointly modernize their records and contracts for buying this would impact multiple agencies.

Training Employment and Education 44 overlaping programs144 total overlaping programs.

Lets quit using talking points and vilifying people acusing them of hurting old people and really look at what can be cut. This is just being responsible.

http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d11318sp.pd鈥?/a>|||Thank you. I've been waiting so long for conservatives to do what they used to do best. That is, pointing out bureaucratic redundancies. There are far to many defense agencies operating right now and not only is it costing us tons of money, the overlapping jurisdictions are making it harder for our federal agents to do their jobs. I would also point out that our school systems suffer from the same problems. It just goes to show that there are plenty of things that liberals and conservatives can come together on when it comes to reducing the debt. We just have to get beyond this partisan hate mongering fed to us by the media and politicians.|||Funny thing, 30 years ago the Grace commission under President Reagan found the same thing and pointed how the government could save 500 billion dollars by closing a few hundred agencies that weren't needed. Since then no agencies were really closed and a few hundred new ones were created.

The fact is every president since Theodore Roosevelt and probably several before him have pointed out government waste and nothing has been done about it.

Arguably the biggest government waste is spending time trying to reduce government waste.|||Im with angels memory dump the chumps hey that could be a great campagin slogan for the GOP against oweBammy|||I vote we dump the chumps who's put all of these duplications in there and trash everything, based on seniority. The rest of the programs have the go and remind any future elected weasels that it's not gonna happen again.|||Yes, it makes perfect sense to cut/consolidate truly duplicate programs.

A lot smarter than "just take a hatchet to the government."|||Why stop at duplication?

There are some offices that do NOTHING that are not duplicated (thank God).

Oh wait. We can't eliminate the State Department. We'll need that later.|||I wish I could say this surprised me. Cut them all.|||We have a choice ,cut back now or lose it all later.

Cut all duplications.
