Why is 56% of our southern border basically out of our control?

Is there any other nation on this earth where the sanctity of their borders is not sacred?





According to the GAO 1127 miles of our southern border is not with in our operational control.





How is that acceptable?





When we are at war, when the threat of terrorism is so high, how can we live with 1127 miles of poor control?





Why arent more people outraged at this?|||Because the federal government is infested with anti-American elitists whose only concern is their position of power and importing cheap labor and votes for Democrats. Screw the American people they say.|||Firstly, Most of our Southern border is so mountainous, it's impenetrable. However, we could put up an electric fence across the penetrable portion of the border for $50 million.





Second, Mexicans aren't really brown people. They're a mix of Spaniards and Native Americans.


The poorer ones who illegally cross the border tend to have more Native American heritage. The Mexicans with more Spanish heritage tend to be whiter, like their European counterparts.





Next, if an American wanted to live in Mexico, they'd have to prove they can support themselves, that they also have to be fluent in Spanish, and they have no say in how the government is run. They're not even allowed to own property. In Mexico, gambling and guns are illegal.





Lastly, I don't know why Obama doesn't lock down our Southern border. We could do it for as little as $50 million dollars. If you're outraged by our open border, contact the President, and your Senators and Representatives. Let them know how you feel.|||A lot more than that is not secured along the border with Canada.





I typically have an easier time entering other countries than entering the US, and I am an American citizen! I find that the US takes their customs and immigration way more seriously than most other countries I have been to.





The border is not really an issue in regards to the wars we are fighting. There is no evidence that the Taliban are going to be invading North America anytime soon. Similarly the border doesn't seem to be a big terror threat. Think about it - it would be far, far easier for the Taliban to send someone unknown on a plane into the US to carry out an attack than it would be for them to send an operative known to the US first to Mexico, then sneak them across the border in to the US, all the while risking detection. The fact is the border has been this unsecured for so long, yet it has not played any role in any of the terror attacks committed in the US. Nor have terror attacks in Europe been committed by people who immigrated illegally.





I'm not outraged because I think this is fear-mongering.|||If it were up to the left wing progressives, the US would have no borders, no English language, no American flag, no personal property rights and a nation without sovereignty.


Those that are outraged are busy pulling the wagon and no time to run around protesting.|||Bethy, You're right. We need a giant, impermeable fence or wall to keep the slime balls and scum out. I suggest that it be built along the old Mason-Dixon Line. That way we can keep the scum south of the Real America where they belong. I think it's time they got their wish and seceded from the Union.|||Our north and south boarders are unprotected because, in the past those two great big oceans were enough to protect us from our enemies. Now you a republican want to spend billions to build a fence when, you and your party want to cut spending. that is the way it is around the world, why would the usa be different?|||The border is out of control because there are more US troops guarding the borders of Iraq than there are guarding the borders of the US.|||Well since I live on the Northern border, I think I better get right on that. I'll start tunneling through my basement tonight.|||We don't have hordes of third worlders pouring over the Canadian border.
